Beaches

Falckenstein

The Falckensteiner Strand in Kiel-Friedrichsort has a wide sandy beach with coastal dunes and beach walls. In the south a dike protects the hinterland from flooding. In summertime, the beach, which is then accessed by the Förde steamers, is especially popular with families, as there are distinct shallow water areas along the shore. The beach is supervised. Because the fjord is very narrow here, ships pass impressively close to the beach.

Schilksee

South of the harbour of Schilksee, off the cliffs, there is a nice wide sandy beach, which can be reached by stairs. Breakwaters ensure calm waters and make bathing a safe pleasure even for children. Furthermore, the DLRG watches over the swimmers*. If required, beach chairs can be rented and there is a beach kiosk as well as inns and restaurants of the nearby Olympic Centre for the supply. The beach of Schilksee can be ideally reached with the bus lines 502, 901/902 from the main station.

The beach, which is located directly at a jetty, can be easily reached by the fjord ferry of the Kiel Towing and Ferry Company.
